In my last update, I talked about shin splints. Well, I'm happy to say that they are almost completely gone! Thanks to the athletic therapy, countless massages and my new shoes, I can walk again! Except that now... it's my knees. I seem to have the worst luck when it comes to this stuff. I always have an injury of some sort! Can I get a refund on these legs?
I've been icing my knee every day, and it's slowly getting better. Hopefully I'll be able to do my long run this weekend without too much trouble.
On the bright side, things are finally warming up around here! I have now run a total of about 52 miles and have already lost about 5 pounds. Only 8 weeks to go before the big day!
Running App:
When I run outside, I use my phone as an iPod and use the Nike Running app to calculate how long and how far I've run. I absolutely love this app! It gives you badges for your fastest runs, farthest runs, fastest 5k, etc. You can also compare to previous runs, and even set up a voice feedback for every .5 miles, every mile or whatever you decide. You can also make a playlist and choose power songs... And the best part? It's free!
What's your favourite running/workout app?
I use the Nike running app too when I run!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great app. c:
Hope you feel better soon! <3

Thanks! I can't get enough of that app. Except that I still don't understand the whole Nike Fuel thing, but oh well!
ReplyDeleteWhat's in 8 weeks!? you spoke too soon btw. look at all this snooow :(
ReplyDeleteThe Winnipeg Police Service Half-Marathon is in 8 weeks! I KNOW!! I'm so mad. :(
ReplyDeleteApp sounds awesome! Does it work if you're a treadmill runner like I am/would be? I suppose I could always just look down at the treadmill stats, haha!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your knees - I have battled knee issues, and I know it's no fun! Strangely enough, running usually is fine on my knees - my ankles are a different story, though. Doesn't matter how much I stretch them out, my ankles usually kill minutes into a run. Boo! Have you asked your the athletic therapy people about your knees?
Haha I haven't tried it! I just use the stats ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's weird because I've never had knee problems before! Shin splints, all the time, but knees? Never. I asked about it and they think that my quads are more developed than my inner thigh muscle so it's stressing the ligament that's attached to the quads under my knee or something. Lots of ice and stretching seems to be helping though! :)
