Toiletries: I mean, being a broke college student, you might enjoy a care package from home, but not tampons and toothbrushes...

Scale/Fitness membership: Nobody wants to be reminded how much they weight, especially over the holiday season!

Shoes: Women love shoes, that's a given. But finding the right pair is so hard to do! Sizes are always different and they may be pretty, but totally uncomfortable. Or they may fit, but aren't exactly pretty...

Kitchen appliances: Unless it's from your parents, it's not the most thoughtful gift... It's almost like saying "I can't wait for you to cook and clean for me!"

Car-related items: Do I really need to explain why giving me jumper cables or new rims will not be the greatest Christmas gift ever?

Makeup: Chances are, I have everything I already need. If not, don't try and guess which colour... If I don't even know what colour I need, you won't either.

Stuffed Animals: I'm not 10 anymore... Yes, they're cute, but I'm not going to sleep with a teddy bear...

Clothes: Unless you know exactly which one, which size, everything, it probably won't be something she/I like, or will fit properly. Some girls (including myself) are super picky about clothing, so it's better to steer clear.

Concert or Sport ticket: If it's YOUR favourite team/band/singer, just forget it. You're buying her a gift for yourself. If you're thinking on buying tickets, make it of HER favourite thing.

BRAS: I'm sure every girl in the world will agree, good bras are incredibly hard to find. Nothing ever fits properly, or it's not the right colour, etc. In this case, a gift card might be a better option.
